Hugh Jackman says Wolverine and Deadpool ‘hate each other’ in Deadpool 3

The dynamic of Wolverine and Deadpool’s enemies will turn to outright hatred in the coming years Deadpool 3by Hugh Jackman.

The actor recently appeared in The Empire Movie Podcast and teased the relationship status of superheroes by joking that his clawed mutant would want to hit Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson in the head often. “How do you classify it?” Jackman said when asked about the dynamics. “Ten is really close, zero is reality: we are zero; we’re opposites, we hate each other.”

“I’m only speaking from my perspective,” he said. “[Logan is] frustrated by him [and] wants to be a million miles away from him or wants to punch him in the head. Unfortunately, he can’t be a million miles away in this movie, so I’ll probably be hitting him on the head a lot.”

Jackman, who currently plays the lead role A man of music on Broadway also said that training to get in shape was “a lot harder” for Wolverine, given his theatrical schedule, but there’s one incentive: taking Reynolds.

“I currently do eight shows a week, so I only lift weights three times a week,” said Jackman. “But I’ll get down to it once or twice a day as soon as it’s over in a month. I’ll have six months to prepare and I always have the same attitude every time.” He added: “I want it to be better than ever, to be in better shape than ever, more capable of doing things than ever. I just have extra motivation to take Ryan Reynolds on a daily basis.”

Reynolds made his Deadpool debut in 2009 X-Men Origins: Wolverine opposite Jackman. The latter retired from the role of Wolverine in 2017 Logan after reprising the character several times in the X-Men franchise. Jackman shared the news of Wolverine’s return to the D23 Expo in September, and recently confirmed that his return won’t spoil Logan timeline, indicating that time travel can have an impact on the plot.

“It’s all because of this device they have in the Marvel universe to move through timelines,” he said during Jess Cagle show last week. “Now we can go back because it’s science so I don’t have to fuck with it Logan timeline, which was important to me and I think probably to the fans as well.”

Deadpool 3 is slated for a theatrical release on November 8, 2024.
