Whether it’s a quiet drink, a sophisticated cocktail or the chance to dance the night away, everything is possible in Courchevel. Most four- and five-star hotels in the 1850s had sophisticated bars for a leisurely – if expensive – drink, and it’s quite possible to splurge on your Christmas budget quickly if you unknowingly stray into one. However, there are also many affordable places in all the base villages.
In the mountains for travelers in Trois Vallées, après ski can start at Folie Douce in the Méribel Valley – just don’t forget to catch the top of the Saulire Express gondola back to the Courchevel side well before Folie closes or it will be an expensive taxi home. While you can enjoy a late-afternoon drink on the mountain terrace on the way back, there are few hillside party places to base in Courchevel, most of the action takes place back in town.
